Kintsugi Psychotherapy

Michiko Mitsunaga-Whitten, LCSW

金継ぎ Kintsugi (mending with gold) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery using gold or silver lacquer resin. This repair method celebrates an object's unique history by emphasizing its fractures and breaks instead of hiding or disguising them. Kintsugi makes the mended piece even more beautiful than the original and symbolizes the acceptance of change, honoring of difference, and power of resilience.

Welcome! Kintsugi Psychotherapy LLC offers contemporary psychodynamic psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Internal Family Systems therapy for college students, adults, and groups in Boulder, Colorado.

I value the importance of a holistic perspective when treating psychological issues and offer treatment that creates constructive and meaningful change from an anti-oppressive, liberatory lens. I work with young adults and adults who present with a wide range of therapeutic needs and welcome all genders, races, countries of origin, sexual orientations, religions, abilities, and body sizes.
